One Year of Making Films
At VFS, you're immersed in production throughout your year. Right out of the gate, you're leading and crewing films that incorporate increasingly advanced technical demands, and sophisticated short film projects that form the heart of your professional reel. Along with regular workshops and on-set intensives, these films combine to create a body of experience - and a way to apply everything you learn in Film Production.
What You Will Learn
Nowadays, anybody can get a camera, make a movie, and find a modest audience – it's a great first step. VFS is about taking it to the next level: What you will learn will enable you to be a confident creative professional, an independent filmmaker with the knowledge to prove it. By exploring and then specializing in filmmaking's key creative disciplines, you're ultimately able to step onto any film set and make a difference.
The Facilities
Film Production is as equipped as any production company, with cameras like the Sony EX-1 and F335 and higher-end HD or Arriflex Super 16mm units. You'll have access to professional lighting and sound packages, dedicated editing suites, and inspiring studio sets or exterior locations to make the best film possible.
Your production costs are all included in your tuition, though the real value will come in learning how to make the most of your budget, whether it's an independent or studio shoot.
The Reel
Your reel is the key to your success in the industry. It can attract talented collaborators and investors who will help you achieve your vision and establish your career. The Film Production program is structured to give you every opportunity to develop your craft and experience. The only limit is your own ambition: at VFS, you'll have the chance to work in key creative and crew roles on your fellow students' films. The result is a diverse and attention-getting reel.
